The Philippine government on Thursday placed six areas under Alert Level 3.

Acting Palace spokesman Karlo Nograles said the provinces of Palawan, Camiguin, Davao Occidental, Dinagat Islands, Tawi-Tawi, and Sulu would be under the heightened alert level from Jan. 28 to Feb. 15, 2022.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has yet to announce new classifications for areas whose alert levels would expire on Jan. 31.

Nograles earlier said the government took into account the daily attack rate of Covid-19, two-week growth rate and healthcare utilization in determining the alert levels for areas.

The Philippines on Thursday recorded 18,191 new Covid-19 cases, which pushed its active tally to 226,521.
