Sa tweet ng user na si Joel Garcia, inulit niya na si Sen. Imee Marcos ay nagtapos ng kanyang Bachelor of Laws sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (UP). Nagpakita pa ito ng mga graduation pictures ng senador kasama ang kanyang mga magulang na sina dating diktador Ferdinand Marcos Sr., at ang ina nitong si Imelda Marcos sa kanyang graduation.
Hindi totoo na nagtapos ng law degree sa UP ang senador.
Nakalagay rin ang maling impormasyon na ito sa naka-archive nang kopya ng curriculum vitae ng senadora.
Ayon kay dating UP executive vice president Dr. Ted Herbosa, hindi nakapagtapos ng kahit anong degree sa unibersidad ang senador. Sa sagot ni Herbosa sa email ng ABS-CBN at Rappler, sinabi niya na si Marcos ay kumuha ng mga non-degree courses mula sa UP College of Arts and Sciences noong 1976 hanggang 1977. Pagkatapos, ang senadora naman ay kumuha ng ilang kurso sa ilalim ng programang Bachelor of Laws noong 1979 hanggang 1983.
“There is no record of her graduation from UPD (UP Diliman) nor any honors or academic distinction received with the university registrar’s office,” aniya.
Sa tweet ni Garcia noong Hulyo 20, ginamit pa nito bilang patunay sa naturang pagtatapos ng senadora ang pahayag ng abogadong si Rey Lapinid. Subalit, nabanggit din ni Lapinid na hindi napagkalooban ng law degree ang senador dahil hindi nito nai-submit ang kanyang undergraduate diploma, isa sa mga pangunahing requirements para makapasok sa law school. – Rommel F.
