Malacañang on Tuesday said fully vaccinated health workers would be eligible for booster-shot vaccination starting Nov. 17.

“Sa isyu ng booster shots, lahat ng fully vaccinated healthcare workers ay maaari nang mag-avail ng booster shots simula bukas…Uulitin ko po: Para po muna ito sa A1 healthcare workers,” acting Palace spokesman Karlo Nograles said.

The Department of Health (DOH) is recommending the use of Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines as booster shots regardless of the vaccine brand used for initial vaccination.

Sinovac vaccines will be offered as a booster for those initially inoculated with Sinovac jabs, the DOH said.

The Philippines has yet to approve third doses and booster shots for the general population.

Third doses are administered to immunocompromised individuals to generate and complete the required immunity against Covid-19, while booster shots are given to healthy individuals for further protection.

The country has allocated P45 billion for the procurement of booster shots against Covid-19.

As of Nov. 14, about 34.61 percent of Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
