No more doles from DOLE.
Companies who were not able to receive financial aid for their employees under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) may apply for assistance from other government agencies, the department announced Saturday.
In the May 23 Laging Handa briefing, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the department could no longer extend more cash aid to workers through their employers due to budget limitations.
Bello said almost 660,000 workers were given P5,000, costing DOLE more than P3.28 billion.
“Hanggang doon na lamang po iyong aming pondo. Pero iyong hindi namin nabigyan, they can apply with the Department of Finance and SSS, they have a program called Small Business Wage Subsidy Program.
Puwede silang makatanggap din doon ng P5,000 to P8,000 cash assistance depende kung saan region ka,” Bello said during the government briefing aired on state television.
Malacañang earlier announced that an additional five million more families would be eligible for the second tranche of cash aid through the government’s social amelioration program. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
