The country’s pandemic task force has allowed the reopening of gyms and fitness areas in NCR-Plus, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said on Friday.
In a statement, Roque said indoor non-contact sports venues with safety seal certifications such as skating rinks and racket sports were also allowed to open.
NCR-Plus is composed of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, which is under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions until June 15.
Roque earlier said that the reopening of gyms was among the concerns the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases prioritized to tackle.
Gyms were previously dubbed as Covid-19 super spreaders.
“Isa sa pag-uusapan ay iyong pagbubukas ng gym dahil talaga naman po iyong mga gaya ko na dati nang mataba ay lalong tumaba dahil wala pong gym,” he said.
Also allowed to reopen at limited capacities are historical sites and museums in NCR-Plus.
Such areas could open at 20 percent venue capacity, following health and safety protocols and the approval of local government units, Roque said.
