The Duterte administration has pledged to raise P10 billion for areas ravaged by typhoon “Odette,” the Palace said on Tuesday.

“President Duterte…vowed to raise additional funds, estimated at P10 billion, for the rehabilitation and recovery efforts in the typhoon-affected areas,” acting Palace spokesman Karlo Nograles said in a statement.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development earlier pledged food packs and water and shelter assistance for families affected by “Odette.”

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and the National Housing Authority also vowed to provide housing assistance to Filipinos whose homes have been partially and totally damaged by the typhoon.

Nograles said the Department of Trade and Industry would look into the reported overpricing of fuel and generators, while the Department of Agriculture would provide agricultural assistance for affected farmers and fisherfolk.

The Department of Public Works and Highways will clear uprooted trees causing roadblocks and turn them over to housing officials to be used as construction materials, Nograles said.

According to the latest National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report, “Odette” has killed 156 individuals and caused P362.3 million in agricultural damage. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
