The Philippine government is planning to vaccinate 100 percent of Filipinos by June, before President Rodrigo Duterte’s term ends, the Palace said on Friday.
“We are going to use everything under our power to achieve 100-percent vaccination and get back to our new normal before the president steps down on June 30, deputy Palace spokesman Kristian Ablan said in a virtual presser.
The country’s vaccination rate has been slowing down as of November 2021, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier said.
More than 72 percent of the country’s target population have so far been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion earlier proposed to require booster shots by June to help the country fight new Covid-19 variants that might emerge.
There are 66 million fully vaccinated Filipinos as of March 31.
