The Philippines is expecting 25 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to reach its shores in September, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said on Monday.

In a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte aired on Tuesday, Galvez said most of the expected doses for September would come from the Chinese firm Sinovac.

The expected deliveries for September 2021 are as follows:

  • Sinovac- 12 million doses
  • Pfizer – 5 million doses
  • Moderna- 2 million doses
  • AstraZeneca- 1 million doses
  • Sputnik V- 1 million doses
  • Donations- 1 million doses
  • Covax facility- 3 million doses

Galvez said 29.5 million doses were expected to arrive in October.

According to government data, the country has received 48,885,590 vaccine doses as of Aug. 30, with 33,099,392 doses administered.

The country has fully vaccinated 13.78 million Filipinos.

The country’s vaccination rate plateaued in the last week of August.

Health officials earlier said that the Philippines would reach daily vaccination numbers of 500,000 daily by end-August.

However, only 2,710,232 doses were administered from Aug. 23 to 29, or 387,176 jabs daily.

The Philippines aims to vaccinate 76.3 million Filipinos in 2021 to achieve herd immunity against Covid-19. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
