Malacañang announced Monday the appointment of Aniceto Bertiz III as deputy director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

Bertiz previously represented the ACTS OFW partylist in Congress.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement that Bertiz would have to “provide returning Filipinos quality-assured and inclusive technical education and skills development, as envisioned by Tesda.”

Bertiz drew flak in 2018 after a video of him harassing Ninoy Aquino International Airport security staff circulated online.

He later apologized, saying he had a “monthly period” and that he was only human. He said: “Hindi ko na rin po maiaalis na tao lang po, na marupok at umiinit ang ulo, naiistress din sa trabaho.”

“We hope that everyone would support Bertiz as he begins his new assignment in this extraordinary time,” Roque said. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
