Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo’s presidential bid has earned the support of a group of former Cabinet members, senior government officials, top diplomats and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chiefs.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the group said it believed Robredo could lead the Philippines “on an upward path of recovery and greatness.”

“We believe that in the May 2022 elections, the Filipino people will make a choice that will shape our future and that of future generations. We share our people’s aspirations for a government led by a president who is competent, experienced and committed to the principles of integrity, democracy and genuine public service,” the retired officials said.
They said Robredo’s track record proved that she possessed qualities of a “true leader”: capable, decisive, compassionate, empathetic, honest and responsive.
They also said they sought a leader that had respect for human rights and the rule of law, as well as one that was committed to protecting the sovereignty of the country.
“We commit ourselves fully to Vice President Leni Robredo’s bid for the presidency to lead the Philippines on an upward path of recovery and greatness. We thus enjoin the Filipino people to give our country the leader that we all deserve,” their statement read.
The group is composed of officials who served under the administrations of former presidents Benigno Aquino III, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Fidel Ramos. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
