The Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) flood control project work in Sampaloc, Manila is at 30% completion amid Maynilad’s ongoing dewatering of its 7-foot-diameter pipeline along Sobriedad.

Maynilad in a statement said the dewatering was implemented by the installation of “line stoppers” connecting both the upstream and downstream portions of the network that gives water to the pipeline.

Once all water was removed from the pipeline, the cutting will start.

“As of 8:00 a.m. today, October 30, 2021, Maynilad completed the cutting of this pipeline, and the last segment is already being lifted and removed. This is now 30% toward full project completion,” Maynilad reported.

Currently, Maynilad will replace the removed pipe segment by lowering the cross-under pipe into the trench.

Maynilad earlier announced the water interruption from October 29 to November 1. Ronald Espartinez
