The Department of Foreign Department (DFA) announced Monday that the total number of Filipinos abroad with Covid-19 had reached 8,301.
The number saw a 2,160 increase, from Sunday’s 6,141 cases, mostly due to newly reported cases in Middle Eastern countries with strict privacy laws.
As of June 22, there were 5,055 recoveries and 506 deaths.
“It is worth noting, however, that the share of total deaths against the total confirmed cases decreased to 6 percent compared to last week’s figures at 7.7 percent,” the DFA said.
The DFA said 2,740 Filipinos abroad were undergoing treatment.
The total cases came from 53 countries and regions.
The DFA also announced that it had brought home 51,113 overseas Filipino workers since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
