The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), on July 28, announced that they are going digital for basic workshops on filmmaking for aspiring filmmakers in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

The workshops will run from Aug. 7 to Aug. 8.

For Aug. 7, the workshops will be on acting and cinematography.

The workshop on acting will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., led by Abigail Lazaro. Lazaro is currently an assistant director and actress. She was the second assistant director for films like “100 Tula Para Kay Stella” and “2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten.” She starred in the films “Abandoned” and “Alimuom ng Kahapon.”

The cinematography workshop will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., to be led by Dexter dela Peña. He was the cinematographer for “Little Azkals,” “Debosyon,” and “Gravity.” Dela Peña has won a Young Critics Circle award for “Best Achievement in Cinematography and Visual Design” for the film “Teoriya.” He was also a nominee of Gawad Urian Awards and Metro Manila Film Festival.

For Aug. 8, the workshops will be on scriptwriting and directing.

The scriptwriting workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., to be led by Bagane Fiola. Fiola is currently a cinematographer and has won a Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival award for “Best Cinematography” for the film “Imburnal,” and a “Grand Jury” award from Dreamanila International Film Festival for the film “Baboy Halas.” He was also a FAMAS Awards nominee for the short film “Pulangui.”

Leading the directing workshop would be Gutierrez “Teng” Mangansakan II from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mangansakan is currently a director and producer known for “Obscured Histories and Silent Longings of Daguluan’s Children,” “Masla a Papanok,” and “Qiyamah.”

He has also won a Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival award for “Best Documentary” for the film “Forbidden Memory,” and “Lino Brocka” and “Best Director” awards for “Obscured Histories and Silent Longings of Daguluan’s Children.” Mangansakan was also a nominee of Gawad Urian awards and Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
