The makers of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, which was smuggled and used to inoculate members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) last year, have yet to submit the required documents for the emergency use authorization (EUA) of the Chinese vaccine.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made this statement after an outbreak of Covid-19 among PSG personnel.
“Iyon po kasing applicants ng Sinopharm, as of now may dalawa pong sumulat, hiningian naman din natin sila ng mga requirements pero hindi pa po sila sumasagot at hindi nagsa-submit ng requirements,” FDA chief Eric Domingo said in a Laging Handa briefing.
“So technically, wala pong Sinopharm na application that is under evaluation dito po sa FDA,” he added.
In February, columnist Ramon Tulfo Jr. admitted receiving a Sinopharm vaccine along with other government officials and members of the PSG in October 2020.
The FDA granted 10,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines a “compassionate use license” in the country only in February this year.
