The YouTube channel Pinoy Streamline uploaded a video on May 17, 2022, claiming the Filipino members of the Roman Catholic congregation Daughters of St. Paul could not accept the loss of former vice president Leni Robredo in the 2022 election.
The video has a thumbnail image featuring a photo of Sr. Lourdes Ranara, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Robredo with the words “NAGWALA ANG MADRE DAHIL TALO SI LENI”
The first seconds of the video also had the words “HINDI MATANGGAP ANG PAGKATALO NG SANTA NILANG SI ROBREDO” emblazoned on the screen.
This is FALSE.
Pinoy Streamline used portions of the video by the Daughters of St. Paul which was uploaded on the Roman Catholic sisters’ Facebook page on May 2, 2022, a week before the elections.
In the original video, Ranara was endorsing the candidacy of Robredo. Ranara did not complain of Robredo’s loss since the elections had yet to take place.
In an interview with PressOne.PH, Sr. Rose Agtarap, FSP, spokesperson for the Daughters of St. Paul in the Philippine-Malaysian-Papua New Guinean-Thai Province said Pinoy Streamline did not nor attempted to seek their permission to use their video.
YouTube has a policy against copyright infringement. Its policy reminds content creators not to “use content in their videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations.”
Pinoy Streamline uploaded its video on May 17, 2022 and has more than 51k views and has not been flagged by YouTube. — Rommel F. Lopez
