False information is spreading on Facebook claiming enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will no longer flag down violators starting Nov. 15.
This was supposedly due to the no-contact apprehension policy (NCAP) where cameras will be used to catch violators of road traffic rules. Violators will be sent notices and must pay the corresponding fines. The NCAP is being implemented in some Metro Manila roads.
The false information about NCAP spread not just on Facebook but also on Viber on Aug. 24.

The MMDA itself has disowned the supposed announcement. The agency said its enforcers would continue to apprehend violators despite the implementation of NCAP.
“Maling impormasyon ang kumakalat tungkol sa mga paalala ng MMDA sa No Contact Apprehension Policy. Ang mga MMDA traffic enforcers ay patuloy pa rin na maninita ng mga motoristang may paglabag sa batas trapiko,” the MMDA said before noon on Aug. 24.
“Huwag basta maniwala sa mga natatanggap na mensahe o post sa social media. Mabuting alamin muna ang pinanggalingan ng impormasyon o iberipika mula sa mga lehitimong sources ang mga nababasa o natatanggap na datos,” the MMDA added.
