Lumaganap sa Facebook at X (dating Twitter) ang sunod-sunod na maling pahayag na nagsasabing magbabalik sa free TV ang ABS-CBN simula Pebrero 10.
Ayon sa mga post, gagamitin umano ng network ang “Channel 3,” na nagpapahiwatig na nakakuha na ito ng prangkisa mula sa Kongreso upang mag-operate sa free TV.
Ngunit hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin nabibigyan ng Kongreso ang ABS-CBN Corp. ng 25-taong prangkisa na magpapahintulot dito na muling magbrodkast.
Noong Enero 7, isinulong ng pumanaw na Albay Rep. Joey Salceda ang panukalang batas na House Bill 11252 upang maibalik ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN.
Ito na ang ikalimang pagtatangkang maibalik ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN mula nang hindi ito ma-renew at napilitang ipasara ang broadcast operations nito noong 2020 sa ilalim ng administrasyong Duterte.
Sa kasalukuyan, nakatuon na ang ABS-CBN sa content at digital media production, kung saan ipinapalabas nito ang mga programa sa iba’t ibang platform, kabilang ang dati nitong mga kakumpitensya sa free TV.
Alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 3846, kinakailangang makakuha ng prangkisa mula sa Kongreso ang anumang media company sa Pilipinas bago ito payagang mag-operate sa broadcast frequency ng bansa.
