CLAIM: Vice President Sara Duterte went into hiding and evaded National Bureau of Investigation operatives.

RATING: FALSE

A Facebook user falsely claimed that Vice President Sara Duterte was avoiding the National Bureau of Investigation and had gone into hiding.

Verified user “Jarret Pulido” posted a YouTube link with a thumbnail that read: “SARA ASTIG NAGING NGINIG! TINAGUAN ANG NBI!”

It also bore a caption and title that said: “NAGTAGO na si Sara Duterte sa NBI! Nawala ang ASTIG! TUMAKBO na!”

(Sara “Astig” became “Nginig”! Hides away from the NBI. Sara evades NBI and runs away!)

Duterte, however, was not in hiding but rather chose to hold a press conference on Dec. 11, at the time the claim was posted.

She said her lawyers told her that “she has options to not appear before the NBI.”

The vice president’s lawyer, Paul Lim, submitted a letter to the NBI and announced to the media that Duterte will not make it to the bureau’s headquarters in Pasig City.

The NBI issued a subpoena to Duterte last Dec. 2 as part of its investigation into the vice president’s threats against President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. Hurt Allauigan
