CLAIM: During the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte in The Hague, Netherlands, police general Nicolas Torre was caught escaping.
RATING: FALSE
A TikTok video falsely claimed that police general Nicolas Torre had escaped illegally during the time of ex-president Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest in the Netherlands.
The video mentioned that Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla had filed a petition for habeas corpus on March 11, 2025.
“Hinatolan ng Korte? Nahole ang Pag-t4kas ni Tori” (“The court already made a judgment? Tori’s escape was caught”).
A press briefing from March 13 showed that Torre was not arrested at all, and was in fact speaking during a panel discussion.
Torre serves as the director of the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
As of writing, the video has amassed a cumulative 7,204 likes, 242 comments, and 501 shares. Kenneth Fernando
