FACT-CHECK: TikTok user spreads false statements regarding President Marcos Jr.’s birthday greeting to Sara Duterte

Jun 11, 2025 | Fact Checked by PressOnePH

CLAIM: A birthday greeting from Bongbong Marcos Jr. to VP Sara Duterte was posted and later taken down.

RATING: FALSE

A TikTok user uploaded a spliced video of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s birthday greeting to Vice President Sara Duterte, falsely claiming that the video was abruptly deleted shortly after being posted.

The video included an overlaid caption that reads: “Mr. Bongbong Marcos, inupload sa kanyang page ang kanyang pagbati kay VP Sara ngunit agad ding binura (sic).”

(“Mr. Bongbong Marcos uploaded his birthday greeting for VP Sara on his page but quickly deleted it”).

The original video greeting was posted on May 31, 2023, on President Marcos Jr.’s official Facebook page.

As of writing, this remains the only recorded birthday greeting made by Marcos Jr. to Vice President Duterte.

Last year, Marcos Jr. shared a birthday greeting post but did not make a video greeting for Duterte this year.

The TikTok video has so far garnered 1,300 views. Zelle Corpuz
