CLAIM: National ID holders are guaranteed to receive P5,000 cash assistance from the Philippine Identification System

A TikTok Page has repeatedly made false announcements stating that National ID holders are automatically eligible to receive a P5,000 cash assistance from the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
Under the username @philippinegotoday, the TikTok account has garnered over a million engagements by posting fake cash assistance announcements.
The circulating disinformation was addressed by the government agency through a public advisory across their social media platforms on March 14, 2024, stating that citizens who were registered with PhilSys and/or have a National ID are not guaranteed to receive any cash benefits from the government.
It has also advised the public to remain vigilant against misleading posts involving PhilSys on social media. It warned against clicking malicious links and sharing personal information in exchange for money.
Despite the official announcement, fake news peddlers like Philippine Go Today continue to spread disinformation and deceive unsuspecting users.
