CLAIM: The Department of Social Welfare and Development is offering free educational assistance

A TikTok video is spreading false information that the Department of Social Welfare and Development is offering free educational assistance.
TikTok account “Philippine Go Today” has been notorious for posting misleading videos and slideshows containing registration links to surreptitiously gather personal information.
It falsely claimed the links to be registration links from different government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for financial assistance, and even the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for application as officers.
One TikTok video from this account misleads viewers by saying that the DSWD was not accepting walk-ins for the Educational Cash Assistance.
The video uses the logo of the DSWD and a soundbite from GMA Network’s State of the Nation news program regarding the supposed prohibition of walk-ins for the Educational Cash Assistance of DSWD. The clip is from State of the Nation’s Aug. 24, 2022 episode.
However, DSWD has not released announcements about registration links for educational assistance whether on its official website or Facebook page. The DSWD has warned the public on its official Facebook page that the TikTok account was spreading fake links and information.
Another misleading TikTok video from the same account shows that the PCG and PNP were hiring without imposing age requirements and educational attainment. This is false information.
There are no announcements from the PCG and PNP lifting these said requirements. The usual requirements for application in the PCG and PNP still stand. Earl Jerald Alpay
