CLAIM: Ted Failon questioned the intention of Sen. Risa Hontiveros in investigating Apollo Quiboloy
RATING: FALSE
A video from YouTube channel “PINAS NEWS INSIDER” contains an AI-generated audio mimicking broadcaster Ted Failon and making it appear that he was maliciously questioning Sen. Risa Hontiveros on the investigation involving Kingdom of Jesus Christ pastor Apollo Quiboloy, June 14.
In the falsified clip, Failon was shown as telling the lawmaker: “Sen. Risa Hontiveros, ano ba inyong pinupuntirya batas, kung meron man, to justify the continuous hearing of the particular case? Kasi para ho pamabulaanan ang iba, you’re going to persecute Apollo Quiboloy wala kayong intensiyon kundi pahiyain siya. Wala kayong intensyon kundi siraan siya e.”
This manipulated recording was edited along with a clip of Ted Failon from TV Patrol’s announcement of the broadcaster leaving ABS-CBN on August 30, 2020.
Contrary to the claim in the falsified video, the broadcaster did not make such statements on the “Ted Failon and DJ ChaCha sa Radyo 5” show, particularly in his interview with Hontiveros.
As of this writing, the video has drawn 137,747 viewers and 1,100 comments. Zarena Hermogeno
