CLAIM: Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez had implicated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the anomalous flood control projects.

RATING: FALSE

A YouTube video falsely claimed that the former House speaker, Rep. Martin Romualdez, had implicated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the anomalous flood control projects.

Flagged content: A YouTube account named “PINAS NEWS INSIGHT” posted a video titled “BIG NEWS! ROMUALDEZ KlNANTA SI JUNYOR? PALASYO NAGKAGOLO NA OMBUDSMAN NA SHOCKED? (sic)” (“Big news! Romualdez rats out Junior [Marcos Jr.]? Palace in chaos, Ombudsman in shock.”)

  • The thumbnail shows an overlay text that reads, “PALASYO NA-SHOCKED! ROMUALDEZ BABALEKTAD NA RIN KAY JUNYOR, LAGOT NA.” (Palace is shocked! Romualdez will implicate Junior [Marcos Jr.])

Our debunk: We found no statement from Romualdez mentioning Marcos Jr.’s name in relation to the flood control anomalies, based on our search of his official communication channels.

  • There are no official statements from Romualdez’s Facebook account implicating Marcos Jr.
  • Romualdez did not issue a formal press release regarding the flood control investigation and has not made any statement incriminating Marcos Jr.

Rewind: On Sept. 17, 2025, Romualdez resigned as House speaker amid the flood control corruption controversy.

  • On Nov. 14, 2025, resigned lawmaker Zaldy Co. posted a video mentioning Romualdez and Marcos in connection with kickbacks from budget insertions.
  • On Nov. 21, 2025, the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure recommended plunder, graft, and bribery charges against Romualdez and Co.

Why we fact-checked this: As of writing, the video has drawn 39,000 views and 304 comments.

Spot the fake: Check statements and claims made by any video by going to official sites or social media accounts, as well as legitimate news sources.

  • Check for press releases or official announcements from government agencies. Rhei Hernandez
