CLAIM: Former president Rodrigo Duterte is a Coca-Cola endorser.
RATING: FALSE
A Facebook reel falsely claimed that former president Rodrigo Duterte is a Coca-Cola endorser.
The video, reuploaded by Izang Wineland, was originally taken at a convenience store supposedly located in “Orlando CA,” as indicated by the text in the original clip.
The video shows customized Coke in cans with labels such as “FPRRD” (short for Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte), “Mabuhay ka Tatay (FPRRD),” and “We love you (FPRRD) -Aringkingking.”
The reuploaded version, misleadingly captioned “Endorsement na c Tay Digs o Coke,” included two AI-generated photos of Duterte holding a Coke.
On April 11, the original uploader, Flying Aringkingking, posted on Facebook that he personally bought the customized cans to show love and support for Duterte.
In a separate post, he called out those who shared his video without crediting and using clickbait captions to gain views.
The official and latest endorser of Coca-Cola Philippines is the P-pop girl group BINI, featured in the relaunched iconic #ShareACoke campaign, which allows customers to personalize Coke bottles and cans with names.
There is also no evidence to show that Rodrigo Duterte has been officially engaged by Coca-Cola to be their product endorser.
As of writing, the reel continues to gain traction with 1,500 comments and 3,200 shares. Milyn Carreon
