CLAIM: President Marcos Jr.’s travel budget is for ‘outing, party, concert’

A pro-Duterte Facebook page reposted on Aug. 1 an image from GMA News and falsely claimed that the budget allocated for the official travels of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was for “outing, party, concert.”
The art card that Facebook page “Hakbang ng Maisug – Cebu” reposted was about the proposed travel budget of the Department of Budget and Management for Marcos Jr. in 2025.
The president and other government officials and employees are entitled to per diems, travel expenses, and allowances for authorized trips in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 1177, Section 79, signed by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the chief executive’s father.
These allowances however must follow budget rules.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said in a press briefing that according to the office’s proposal, the travel of the president was reduced for both local and international visits.
As of writing, however, the DBM only released a briefer on the proposed national budget which highlights its priority sectors and projects for 2025. Leigh San Diego
