CLAIM: Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa holding a sign that reads, “Impeach Sara.”

RATING: FALSE

A TikTok user posted an edited photo of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, falsely claiming that he supports the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The image in the post shows dela Rosa holding a sign that reads “MAGKAISA HUWAG MANG-ISA IMPEACH SARA” during the Iglesia ni Cristo’s National Rally for Peace on Jan. 13.

The original photo, which was shared by dela Rosa on his official Facebook account, only showed the text  “MAGKAISA HUWAG MANG-ISA” on the sign.

Dela Rosa said in a Facebook post that he joined the rally to show his solidarity with his countrymen.

On Feb. 5, the House of Representatives impeached Duterte, with 215 House members signing the complaint.

On the same day, dela Rosa held a press briefing about the impeachment of Duterte.

A known ally of the Duterte family, dela Rosa stressed  that he would “maintain his political neutrality” when taking on the role of senator-judge during the trial.

As of writing, the post has drawn 342,500 views and 2,330 reactions on TikTok. Leigh San Diego
