An ex-newscaster falsely claimed on his Facebook account that the LRT-1 was given a “day off” to prevent attendees of the pro-Duterte rally at Liwasang Bonifacio from using this mode of transportation.
Contrary to the claim, the Light Rail Manila Corporation’s (LRMC) Facebook page had announced as early as Aug. 9 the temporary suspension of LRT-1 services for three weekends due to preparations for the opening of the Cavite extension.
LRMC also partnered with various government agencies to arrange alternative transportation for commuters throughout the closure period.
The LRMC Facebook page has been resharing its advisory on a weekly basis to keep commuters informed about the temporary suspension of LRT-1 services.
As of writing, the post of the former broadcaster has drawn 2,671 reactions, 331 comments, and 117 shares.
The rally in Liwasang Bonifacio was a prayer gathering attended by supporters of Vice President Sara “Inday” Duterte, and also called for the resignation of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. Leigh San Diego
