E-commerce company Lazada does not have a new male celebrity endorser as falsely claimed in social media posts
CLAIM: Lazada has a new celebrity male endorser

Pro Marcos film director Darryl Yap shared on his Facebook account what turned out to be a satirical post claiming that international e-commerce company Lazada would have a new male celebrity endorser.
This was after rival e-commerce company Shopee introduced pro-Marcos celebrity Toni Gonzaga as its newest endorser.
“SAAN NA KAYO IIYAK MGA KAKAMP*KE?” he wrote.
Yap’s post has drawn 10,000 reactions, 1,200 comments and 575 shares as of posting time.
The original image can be traced back to “The Imperial Patriarch” Facebook account that later admitted that the image was “fan-made”.
However, the netizens who commented on and shared the post took the image seriously and interpreted it to mean that pro-Marcos rapper Andrew E might be the next endorser of Lazada.
Even the verified Facebook page and Twitter account of the Daily Tribune shared the satirical image.

Reached for comment, Lazada sent the following statement to PressOne.PH:
“We would like to clarify that Lazada Philippines has no engagements with a male personality shown on social media posts circulating online. We encourage the public to keep checking Lazada’s official channels for accurate information.”
Based on our scan of the social media accounts of Lazada Philippines (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok and YouTube accounts) there was no such viral “announcement”. — Rommel F. Lopez
