FACT-CHECK: Hindi namamahagi ng ayuda ang Malasakit centers sa lahat ng mga senior citizen

CLAIM: Lahat ng senior citizen ay makakakuha ng P8,000 na ayuda mula sa mga Malasakit Centers.

Isang facebook page ang maling nagbalita na namimigay ang mga Malasakit Centers ng ₱8,000 ayuda sa lahat ng mga senior citizen.

Ang post ay may kasamang kahina-hinalang link na nagre-redirect sa isang web page ng isang kaduda-dudang e-commerce platform.

Ang inedit na imahe na kasama sa naturang post ay orihinal na nanggaling mula sa isang press release ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) na nag-aanunsyo ng pondo para sa mga proyekto at programa para sa mga nakatatanda.

Walang nabanggit tungkol sa pamimigay ng ayuda.

Ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ay hindi naglabas ng opisyal na pahayag sa pamimigay ng ayuda sa mga senior citizens.

Ang mandato ng Malasakit Center ay tumulong lamang para sa may mga medikal at pinansyal na pangangailangan, tulad ng mga “financially incapacitated” o “indigent” na mga pasyente, hindi sa lahat ng mga senior citizen, taliwas sa sinasabi ng naturang post.

Ayon sa Section 9.3 ng Malasakit Centers Act, ang mga medical social worker ang naatasang magsuri kung kwalipikado ang pasyente sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang panuntunan ng Department of Health (DOH).
