Maling itsinismis ng isang Facebook page na ang Senate Bill 1979 o kilala rin bilang “Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act of 2023,” ay maghihikayat at magtuturo sa kabataan na maging “sekswal na aktibo.”
Sinabi pa ng Facebook page na ang panukalang batas ay magwawasak sa pagiging inosente ng mga bata.
Salungat sa claim, ang panukalang batas ay nagsasaad ng pagbigay edukasyon sa kabataan tungkol sa human sexuality, kalusugan sa reproduksyon, at mga epekto ng maagang pagbubuntis.
Sa isang media conference noong Jan. 15, sinabi ni Sen. Risa Hontiveros na, “Walang anumang probisyon tungkol sa pagtuturo o paghikayat ng masturbation sa mga batang edad 0 to 4 years old o yung magtuturo daw diumano ng ‘bodily pleasure’ sa mga batang 6-9 years old o na ituturo din daw sa bata na may ‘sexual rights’ sila.”
Sinabi pa ni Hontiveros na ang panukalang batas ay naglalayong solusyonan ang problema ng maagang pagbubuntis sa Pilipinas, isang isyu na itinuring ng National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) noong 2019 bilang isang “pambansang at sosyal na emerhensya.”
Noong Jan. 20, sinabi ni President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na i-ve-veto niya kaagad ang panukalang batas na ito kung ito ay pumasa sa kasalukuyang porma nito.
