Claim: Former vice president Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo lied about being the first on ground zero after the Abra earthquake

Narrative:
YouTube channel WHISTLE-BLOWER PH falsely claimed on July 28 that former vice president Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo lied about being the first on ground zero after the earthquake in Abra.
The July 28 YouTube video twisted Robredo’s words in her social media post about being in “close contact” with volunteers in the province.
The erroneous vlog was titled “LAGOT NA!LENI,BISTADONG NASA IBANG BANSA MATAPOS SABIHING NASA GROUND NA SIYA SA KASAGSAGAN NGLINDOL (sic).”
“Bistado si ex-Vice President Leni Robredo sa mga batikang political vloggers matapos sabihin nitong close contact umano siya sa mga volunteers sa naganap na lindol kahapon,” said the video.
It falsely claimed Robredo was lying about being in close contact with volunteer groups responding to victims of the magnitude 7 earthquake in Abra last July 27, as she was in Turkey at that time.
The video showed photos from Robredo’s Instagram showing her in Cappadocia, Turkey, with her three daughters, the day prior to the earthquake.
Robredo’s social media post read: “Praying for everyone’s safety, especially our kababayans in the north who were most affected by the earthquake. We have been in close contact with our volunteer groups there already.”
It is however possible for Robredo to keep in close contact with volunteer groups, through communication applications.
The title of the video was misleading in claiming that Robredo lied about being the first on ground zero, which she did not do.
It also accused her of deception, without any basis, on her supposed contact with volunteer groups.
As of writing, the erroneous video has garnered 150,820 views. Adrian Parungao
