Sa isang Instagram post, maling iniugnay ni first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos kay Dr. Jose Rizal ang isang kilalang salawikain tungkol sa pagpapahalaga sa sariling pinagmulan.
Noong Peb. 22, ipinost ni Araneta-Marcos ang isang larawan niya habang nasa isang pagpupulong kasama ang mga opisyal ng Bago City.
Ang caption nito ay: “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan.”
Ngunit walang anumang natukoy na manuskrito, beripikadong dokumento, o tala na nagpapatunay na si Rizal ang may-akda ng mga salitang ito.
Sa kanyang opinion piece, iginiit ni Rizal scholar at historian Ambeth Ocampo na hindi kailanman binigkas o isinulat ng pambansang bayani ang nasabing sipi.
Ayon kay Ocampo, maaaring nag-ugat ang maling pagkakaugnay sa akda ni Rizal noong kabataan niya na pinamagatang “El Consejo de los Dioses” (Council of the Gods).
Sa pahina ng pamagat ng dulang ito, isinulat ni Rizal ang: “Con el recuerdo del pasado, entro en el porvenir.” (“I enter the future with a memory of the past.”)
