CLAIM: Tally of votes from the recent papal conclave posted on Facebook

RATING: SATIRE

A Facebook user posted an altered image claiming to be a tally of votes of the conclave in the style of ABS-CBN News’ election results.

The altered image labelled as “Papal Conclave” contained “vote counts” for Cardinals Robert Francis Prevost (now Pope Leo XIV), Pietro Parolin, and Luis Antonio Tagle, who were the supposed frontrunners for the papacy.

The “votes” were also labeled as partial and unofficial results from the Philippines’ Commission on Election (Comelec).

The edited image used the template from ABS-CBN’s results tracker for the 2025 elections in the Philippines.

The Holy See does not release vote tallies for conclaves as the rules impose secrecy on the process of electing a new pope.

All cardinals participating in the conclave, including the support staff, took an oath of absolute secrecy as part of Church law and tradition, promising absolute confidentiality regarding all matters related to the election of a new pope. Michael Hermoso – Bautista

FACT-CHECK: P20-per-kilo rice only available at KADIWA Centers

A TikTok post claiming a drop in rice prices under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. failed to provide context about the rice being sold at P20 per kilo, which is only available through the Department of Agriculture’s Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) marketing initiative, and in selected KNP centers.
