A video from 2016 resurfaced showing former senator Leila de Lima making an emotional statement against former president Rodrigo Duterte aiming to mislead Facebook users.
Although Facebook user Lhyne Ongkian Bago Camàmä did not mention any direct claims, the timing of the Facebook post seemed questionable amid congressional hearings on Duterte’s deadly war on drugs.
It also bore an overlay text saying: “De Lima bumuhos and galit kay PRRD.” (De Lima pours her wrath against PRRD.) PRRD is commonly used as shorthand for “President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.”
The old video was taken from TV Patrol’s coverage of De Lima’s press conference back on Sept. 28, 2016.
Although the original cannot be found on ABS-CBN’s online channels, a similar coverage from GMA Network’s 24 Oras can be watched here.
The original footage featured an emotional De Lima decrying the Duterte administration’s smear campaign against her.
De Lima spent seven years in jail over trumped-up drug charges filed under the Duterte government that were all junked by the courts.
De Lima attended the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing last Oct. 28 as a resource person against Duterte and human rights violations during his administration’s crackdown on dangerous and illegal drugs.
As of writing, the video has drawn 156 reactions, 7,600 views and 101 comments, mostly criticizing De Lima. Hurt Allauigan
