CLAIM: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was named the best president for the majority of Filipinos.
RATING: FALSE
A photo uploaded by a Facebook page, “Bagong Pilipinas Chronicles,” misleadingly suggests that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has been named the “best president for the majority of Filipinos,” without citing scientific surveys or official sources.
Flagged content: The photo, uploaded on Oct. 16, 2025, claimed that Marcos was named the “best president for the majority of Filipinos.”
- The caption of the photo reads: “PBBM, KINILALA BILANG BEST PRESIDENT NG MAJORITY NG MGA PILIPINO!” “Mula Luzon, Visayas, hanggang Mindanao, iisang tinig ang maririnig — “Si PBBM ang The Best President! Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ramdam ng bawat Pilipino ang tunay na pagtatrabaho ng gobyerno, malasakit, at pagbabago CONGRATS PBBM!”
Our debunk: The recent 2025 Nationwide Survey by Pulse Asia and the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed a decline in Marcos’s trust and approval ratings.
- A Stratbase Institute-commissioned poll from Sept. 24 to 30 showed President Marcos Jr.’s trust rating declining from 48% in June to 43% in September.
- Meanwhile, Pulse Asia’s “Ulat ng Bayan” 2025 survey, conducted from Sept. 27 to 30, revealed a drop in Marcos Jr.’s rating across the board between June and September 2025.
- The survey showed Marcos’ approval rating at 33%, down 9 points from his 42% rating in June 2025 amid flood and corruption mess.
- In a similar survey by Pulse Asia, 44% of Filipinos disapproved of Marcos’s performance, up five points from 39% in the June survey after the Sept. 21 rallies.
- Disapproval of Marcos Jr. was highest in Mindanao at 83%, up from 66%, and in the Visayas at 55%, up from 38%—both reflecting a 17-point increase.
Rewind: In 2023, Marcos’s performance and trust ratings reached a high point, with over 80% of voters expressing positive perceptions of his performance.
- A 2023 survey conducted by public opinion research firm WR Numero showed that more than 82% of Filipinos who voted for Marcos as president in the 2022 National Elections expressed no regrets about their choice.
- WR Numero found that only 10.8% expressed regrets over voting for Marcos, while 7.1% were unsure.
- Based on OCTA Research Group’s “Tugon ng Masa” survey in 2023, more than 80% of Filipinos trust President Marcos Jr.
- While these surveys indicate a positive sentiment towards Marcos Jr., they don’t support the claim that he was named the “best president” for the majority of Filipinos.
