CLAIM: Alice Guo is running for public office in the 2025 elections.
RATING: FALSE
A Facebook page falsely claimed that dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo would run for public office in the 2025 elections.
Two separate posts on the Facebook page “Showbizfinds” said that Guo would run for senator and mayor.
The two posts featured photos of Guo in Indonesia, where she was escorted by then Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos back to the Philippines on Sept. 5.
In a Senate hearing on Oct. 8, Guo confirmed that she would not run for a position in the upcoming 2025 elections.
Guo said that she would first address all the accusations against her and prioritize clearing her name to be fair to her constituents.
The Commission on Elections has released a tentative list of candidates for senator and mayor of Bamban, and Guo’s name was not on either of the two lists. Leigh San Diego
