
CLAIM: Ilang mga Chinese national na nakatira sa Pilipinas ang ang nagsagawa ng kilos-protesta bilang pagsuporta sa Pilipinas hinggil sa usapin sa West Philippine Sea

Isang pinekeng larawan ang kumakalat sa Facebook na nagpapakita ng isa umanong Chinese national na may hawak ng isang plakard kung saan nakasulat ang mga katagang “We are Chinese living in the Philippines! The West Philippine Sea is ours not in China!”
Ang edited na larawan ay mula sa account na nagngangalang “Wilfred Macquipoten” at umani na ng samu’t saring likes at shares.
Nahanap ng PressOnePH ang orihinal na larawan ng naturang pagkilos para sa China. Ito ay mula sa isinagawang protesta noong 2017 sa Trafalgar Square sa London at walang kinalaman sa usapin hinggil sa West Philippine Sea.
Ito rin ay nagamit ng magasin na Foreign Policy bilang pang-ulong larawan sa isang storya na “China’s Youth Are Trapped in the Cult of Nationalism” na isinulat noong Oktubre 1, 2019, at binanggit si Andres Pantoja bilang may-ari ng larawan.
Ang nakasulat sa plakard sa original na larawan ay, “One Nation, One China.”
Ginamit ang larawan sa The Kootneeti bilang suportang larawan sa kanilang article na “Inherent Contradictions of Nationalism and Communism in China.”
Sinadyang baguhin ang nakasulat sa plakard sa pamamagitan ng pag-e-edit dito upang lituhin ang mga gumagamit ng Facebook.
Sa ngayon, ang edited na larawan na naka-post sa Facebook ay mayroon nang 34,000 na reaksyon, 4,500 na mga komento, at 54,000 na shares. Ang edited na larawan ay nakapost pa rin hanggang ngayon sa iba’t ibang accounts, at patuloy na umaani ng libo-libong shares. Andrew Luis Babaan
