CLAIM: A new, multi-level and state-of-the-art 911 call center is being built in Davao City.
RATING: FALSE
A Facebook user posted an AI-generated video falsely depicting the construction of a high-tech Davao City Central 911 call center facility in the heart of the city, with many commenters appearing to believe that the footage was real.
Flagged content: Despite clear signs that the clip was AI-generated, Facebook user “Cy Journey” in his annotation, continued to praise the Duterte family over the supposed construction of the high-tech emergency call center facility.
- Although the video carried Meta’s AI information label indicating that it was digitally generated, many commenters appeared to overlook the disclaimer and praised the supposed project, with some saying: “Yes good job Duterte is the best..” and “Wow, ang ganda naman ng Davao City. Mapapa sana all nalang talaga tayo!.”
Our debunk: There is no reported ongoing construction of a state-of-the-art Davao City Central 911 Headquarters.
- As of June 2025, there have been five central 911 operational satellites in Davao City located in the towns of Baganihan, Calinan, Toril, Panacan and Cabantian.
- There are also no reports on the official website of the Davao City local government about an ongoing construction of new emergency call centers.
- Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has also made no announcement regarding the alleged ongoing construction.
Why we fact-checked this: As of writing, the video has gained 92,900 reactions, 21,500 shares and 3,500 comments.
- Some users have also reposted the video on other social media platforms further amplifying the falsehood.
Spot the fake: As AI-generated videos become more convincing and easier to spread online, users should be more cautious of sensational claims shared on social media without credible verification.
- Try using free AI detection tools available online to help identify whether a video, image, or audio clip may have been digitally generated or manipulated.
- Always verify viral claims by checking official government websites, trusted news organizations, and credible sources before liking, sharing, or reposting the content. Leigh San Diego, with reports from Jauzen Juan
