FACT-CHECK: AI-generated na larawan ng mga OFW na nakapila para sa libreng tawag, kumalat online

CLAIM: Nakuhanan ng litrato habang nakapila sa OFW Libreng Tawag station ang mga OFW mula sa Middle East.

Isang AI-generated na larawan ng mga OFW na nakapila para sa “OFW Libreng Tawag” program sa Dubai ang kumalat online noong March 13.

Red Flag: Noong March 13, nag-post ang Facebook user na si Ramil Delgado Ramos ng isang AI-generated na larawan na maling nagpapakita ng mahabang pila ng mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na naghihintay para makagamit ng libreng tawag para makontak ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay sa Pilipinas. 

  • Nakasulat sa caption ng post, “Lahat ba ng OFW sa Middle East naka avail na ng free calls. sayang naman.Ito lang ang maitutulong ni PBBM sa mga OFW😅😂 #OFW #middleeast #freecalls #Marcos #Duterte”. 
  • Nakapatong sa larawan ang litrato ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na kuha ni Ivan Mayrina ng GMA Integrated News noong March 6, kung saan may kausap niya sa phone call ang lider ng United Arab Emirates na si Pangulong Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
  • Sa baba ng larawan, may nakalagay na caption, “Iba talaga kapag may free calls.” (“It’s really different when there are free calls.”)

Mga Resibo: Gumamit ng AI detection tools ang PressOne.PH, at nakonpirma ngang may mga bakas ng AI manipulation ang larawan.

  • Lumabas sa UndetectableAI at ZeroGPT na 99% chance na ang imahe ay AI-generated.
  • Ayon naman sa isa pang tool na FakeImageDetector.com, ang imahe ay “computer-generated” o minodify lang ang larawan.
  • Walang nakitang digital footprint ang larawan bago ito kumalat online. 
  • Noong sinubukan itong i-reverse image search, walang lumabas na kahit anong mapagkakatiwalaan na source, kaya lalong naging malinaw na synthetically created o AI-generated talaga ang larawan sa post.

Rewind: Noong March 9, inilunsad ni Marcos Jr. ang Libreng Tawag Program para matulungan ang mga OFW na makontak ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay sa Pilipinas, lalo na ngayong may tensyon sa Middle East.

  • Inatasan ni Marcos Jr. ang mga telecommunication companies na mag-offer ng libreng tawag at mag-setup ng call stations sa mga pangunahing business centers sa Middle East. 

Bakit ito may fact-check: Sa oras ng pagsusulat, ang post ay nakakuha ng malawak na online engagement na mayroong 8,900 reactions, 1,100 comments, at 87 shares.

  • Binatikos ng mga netizens ang programa, kung saan pinuna nila ang naging abala ng mahabang pila sa larawan.

Bantay-fake: Ang mga Generative AI tools ay kayang gumawa ng mga highly realistic na content na maaaring makapanlinlang sa publiko at magpalabo kung ano ang katotohanan at opinyon. 

  • Mahalagang maging ma-ingat online lalo na sa mga panahong sensitibo ang sitwasyon ng mga OFW.
  • Ugaliing i-cross-verify ang mga imahe at reports sa mga lehitimong news outlets at mapagkakatiwalaang sources.
  • Gumamit ng mga libre at accessible na AI detection tools para masigurado ang credibility ng mga photos at videos online.
  • Ang Google at iba pang search engines ay mayroong reverse image search features na magagamit ng mga users para mahanap ang pinagmulan o origin ng isang litrato. Arianne Tadina
