Facebook Messenger’s new logo

The world’s most used social media app, Facebook, announced new features to its messaging app, Messenger.

Facebook has added Rooms, a video conferencing feature of Facebook Messenger, collaborative video viewing, a customizable emoji response bar, new personalized stickers and color gradients in your threads. Which have all been previously announced, however there are a few new elements of note in the latest update.

The Messenger logo also turned from solid blue and white to a color gradient tone.

Facebook said that “10 million people customize their conversations every day” so the company released new chat themes, like love and tie-dye, and custom reactions on chat conversations.

“Today, Messenger gets a new look to mark our continued evolution from a simple way to message your Facebook friends, to a place to hang out with your favorite people, on your favorite apps and devices,” Facebook said in an announcement.

“Over the past six months, we’ve been busy launching products and features that make it easier and more fun to be with your friends and family when you can’t be together in person, whether that’s popping into a virtual room to catch up, or watching funny videos together. You can even easily connect with many of your favorite small businesses, even if you can’t visit them IRL.”

Back in April, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted how the number of Messenger video calls doubled during Covid-19 lockdowns around the world.  He added that group video chat, had risen by ten times more within the period. Rommel F. Lopez
