Voters will be required to wear face shields when they cast their votes in the 2022 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Wednesday.

In the “Kapihan sa Manila Bay” forum, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said those not wearing their face shields would not be allowed to vote.

The Philippine government has scrapped the mandatory use of face shields in areas under Alert Level 1 to 3.

Only in areas under Alert Level 5 is the use of face shields in “community settings” mandatory.
