A multidisciplinary panel of experts will tackle the crucial issue of how to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into media and communication education in the Philippines in a Zoom webinar on May 31, 2023, Wednesday, at 12 noon.

The speaker lineup is led by Dr. Christopher P. Monterola, Professor and Holder of the Aboitiz Chair in Data Science; Head, Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship; Executive Managing Director, ACCeSs@AIM, and Academician, National Academy of Science and Technology. Joining Monterola are Atty. Emerson S. Bañez, Head, Institute for the Administration of Justice of the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Law and Special Counsel, Disini & Disini Law Office, and Mr. Arturo Patungan Jr. of the Data Science Cluster of the University of Santo Tomas College of Science and an officer of the Analytics Association of the Philippines.

 Mr. Jules Guiang of the Asian Development Bank, Youth Force Asia Pacific, Youth Force in the Philippines, Inc., and the National Alliance of Youth Leaders, Inc. will moderate the webinar and roundtable discussion titled PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE: Integrating AI into Philippine Media and Communication Education.”

The May 31, 2023 webinar is the third of a series of online discussions on the impact of AI on media and communication organized by the Philippines Communication Society (PCS) and TVUP, the University of the Philippines’ Internet TV Network, dubbed “AI, naku! Understanding the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Media and Communication Education.”

Dr. Christian George Francisco, Director, Linkages Office of  De La Salle University – Dasmariñas will deliver the welcome remarks, while PCS President Dr. Elena E. Pernia will deliver the synthesis and closing remarks.
