Former police officer Cezar Mancao II has been appointed head of the cybercrime investigation center of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).

Mancao was among those charged in the double-murder case of Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and Emmanuel Corbito.

Malacañang confirmed Mancao’s designation on Wednesday.

“The Palace confirms the appointment of Mr. Cezar Mancao II as Executive Director V of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center of the [DICT],” Palace spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.

“We are confident that Mr. Mancao’s professional credentials would contribute to cybercrime prevention in the country. We wish him good luck in his new assignment,” Roque added.

DICT’s Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center is in charge of policy coordination among concerned agencies and the formulation and enforcement of the national cybersecurity plan.
