Ethics Policy

PressOne.PH recognizes that conflicts of interest are a disservice to the public and cloud editorial judgments and reporting, and thus makes it a point to avoid any conflict of interest, even the appearance of a conflict of interest. Conflicts of interest are not limited to financial considerations and may include outside engagements or employment as well as memberships in organizations, including and especially political organizations. Staff members must forego assignments that present situations of conflict of interest. If this is not possible, conflicts must be disclosed in any story that is published.

Staff members are not allowed to accept money in exchange for news coverage, nor accept gifts of significant value from news sources. Staff members must consider the public interest and the motives of news sources, and consult editors, before agreeing to grant anonymity.

Staff members must present themselves as journalists in the course of their work (such as in conducting interviews) and cannot misrepresent themselves in any way. Any abuse of privileges granted to members of the press will not be tolerated.

Staff members must separate news from commentary, commit to following the facts and provide proper context, and avoid any distortion or misrepresentation in all stories. Plagiarism is considered a serious offense.
