Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar vowed to immediately terminate from the service the policeman who shot a 52-year-old woman dead in Quezon City.

Eleazar ordered a quick investigation into the incident involving Sgt. Hensie Zinampan who grabbed victim Lilybeth Valdez by the hair before fatally shooting her at close range. The incident where he was supposedly under the influence of alcohol was caught in a now-viral video.

Karumal-dumal at hindi katanggap-tanggap ito dahil pulis dapat ang nagpo-protekta sa ating mga kababayan, at hindi ang nag-a-astang kriminal laban sa kanila,” Eleazar said in a statement.

Earlier on May 1, the police officer got into a fistfight with the victim’s husband and son, according to the account of her daughter Beverly Luceño.

The PNP chief vowed to pursue reforms in the police force. Eleazar said corruption and the padrino (patron) system in PNP were the reasons why some police become criminals. Kelsey Telo
