Malacañang on Monday said President Rodrigo Duterte’s family could be among the first ones to receive Covid-19 vaccines in the country but only if they met certain conditions.
Palace spokesman Harry Roque said Duterte’s family could be given priority access to the vaccines should they develop comorbidities.
“Ang First Family po, well ang masasabi ko lang po ‘no, unless mayroong comorbidity ay hindi po talaga sila mabibigyan ng prayoridad,” he said in a virtual presser.
However, even without comorbidities, Duterte’s family could be granted priority access because they are public officials.
“Dahil mga public officials po ang mga anak ng ating pangulo e baka naman po makipagtulungan din sila para ma-boost po ang vaccine confidence. Pero wala pa pong petsa kung kailan at kung sila po ay papayag na mangunguna,” Roque said.
Duterte was also set to receive the Covid-19 vaccines, but his vaccination would be held in private, Roque said earlier.
Duterte, a 75-year-old, will be prioritized in the vaccination drive, Roque said.
