President Rodrigo Duterte has directed all government agencies and instrumentalities to “extend all possible support” to the country’s national vaccination drive from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
In a statement, acting Palace spokesman Karlo Nograles said that the three-day vaccination drive, formally called the “Bayanihan Bakunahan” program, aimed to “significantly” add to the number of Filipinos vaccinated against Covid-19.
“We urge our unvaccinated kababayans to participate in the ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ project so that they can provide themselves and their families with the protection and peace of mind that vaccines provide its recipients,” Nograles said.
The Philippines has fully vaccinated 32.9 million individuals against Covid-19.
The government has declared Nov. 29 and Dec. 1 as “special working days.”
Nov. 30 is the country’s commemoration of Bonifacio Day, a national non-working holiday.
The government aims to inoculate up to 15 million Filipinos during the three-day drive.
