President Rodrigo Duterte urged Filipinos to avail themselves of Covid-19 vaccines in an infomercial aired by the Department of Health (DOH).

In the 101-second-long infomercial, Duterte said vaccination is the most effective solution to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I invite all our kababayans to be vaccinated at the earliest possible opportunity because this is the most, if not the only way, effective way, to defeat Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

“Let us all keep in mind that the vaccine will not only protect you from the virus, it will also protect your loved ones, especially the sick and elderly,” he added.

A total of 8,329,050 vaccine doses have been delivered to the Philippines.

Of the number, 5.18 million doses have been administered.

“Let us heal as one nation. Kapwa Pilipino, magpabakuna na po tayo,” Duterte said.

A recent survey by the Social Weather Stations showed that Filipinos preferred American-made Covid-19 shots the most. Millions of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine doses are expected to arrive this month.

The same survey however found that China’s Sinovac, which obtained emergency use approval from the World Health Organization on Wednesday, was the most preferred brand.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the country’s vaccine supply would be more stable starting this month as it was assured at least two million doses monthly. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
