President Rodrigo Duterte has named Col. Randolph Cabangbang as the next commander of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

Cabangbang assumed his post on Friday, Aug. 20. He replaced Brig. Gen. Jesus Durante III, who was appointed PSG chief in February 2020.

Cabangbang had served as chief of staff of the PSG and the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division in Tanay, Rizal. He was also deputy commander of Task Force Davao.

He is the fifth PSG chief to serve under Duterte.

Cabangbang is a recipient of several military citations including the outstanding achievement medal, military achievement medal and the US Army Commendation Medal.

A Philippine Military Academy graduate, he also took up defense courses abroad, at the Australian Defense College and US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center School. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
